Uploading Firmware

This page describes how to add new firmware for a specific device type within the app.

Firmware overview

When you select Firmware versions from the navigation menu, the following screen will appear.

If firmware versions are already available for device types that the logged-in user is authorized to manage, they will be displayed in a list on this screen. You can sort the list using the arrow icons next to the column headers in the table.

Note: If you are authorized to add firmware versions for multiple device types, all previously uploaded firmware versions for those types will be shown in this list.

Adding firmware

When you click the Add new firmware version button on the overview screen, the following screen will appear. Here, you can upload the new firmware. If your device consists of multiple components (e.g., modem firmware, software), you can upload new firmware for each component separately.

Under Customer group, select the group of customers for whom the firmware should be made available. These customer groups are initially created in the system by a KPN employee and cannot be added manually. A group may consist of a main tenant and subtenants, or a group of tenants that all use the same device type. After selecting the customer group, you can choose the Device Type from the available options for that group. These device types are also added by a KPN employee. Often, only one type will be available, but in some cases, a customer group may have multiple device types for which you are authorized to upload firmware. You must also select a Component for the device type. In most cases, there is only one component, typically labeled Default. For some device types, the firmware consists of multiple parts. In such cases, select the correct component that the firmware version applies to. Once you have selected the combination of Customer group and Device type, a historical overview of all existing firmware versions for that combination will appear at the bottom of the screen. This can be helpful when entering a new Firmware version, as each version must be unique and not previously used.

After entering the firmware version, use the file picker to select and upload the actual Firmware file. You can optionally provide a description of the changes in the Description field, or upload a text file in the Release notes field. Both fields are optional. Once the form is fully completed, click the Update firmware version button at the bottom right of the screen.

You will then return to the overview screen, where a confirmation message will appear indicating that the firmware has been successfully added.

Important: You are responsible for making the correct selections to ensure that the device is compatible with the firmware file being uploaded.
